Easy Pizza Recipe For a Crisp Doughy Crust

The search for an easy pizza recipe is over! I’ve experimented with a few pizza recipes and this one seems to be the easiest one yet! If you’re in the mood for home made pizza, you’re in for a TREAT!

Sure it’s even easier if you pre-made store dough from your local supermarket, but it’s super gratifying to make your own. If you want, any extra, you can throw it in a ziplock freezer back for future use. I make extra batches of pizza sauce too and store them in freezer bags.

The Sauce, The Easy Pizza Recipe Sauce!

Ingredients for the Pizza Sauce

2 Tbsp olive oil

1 clove garlic minced

1 can of (28 oz) crushed tomatoes

1 can of (6 oz) tomato paste

1 tsp sugar

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp dried basil

1 tsp oregano

Black pepper to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat up a sauce point, add olive oil, mince garlic and stir for a few minutes (ensure garlic doesn’t burn)
  2. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, seasons, salt and sugar and stir
  3. Let it come to a simmer, lower the heat and simmer for 30 minutes. For a thicker sauce, you can simmer longer or even shorter but no less than 15 minutes

The Easy Pizza Dough Recipe

Part of the pizza making fun is making the dough! Look, we may not win the dough hand toss prize, but we can try! Here’s a quick tip, when rolling out the easy pizza recipe dough, if you must use a rolling pin, be sure to use the palms of your finger tips and lightly press down on the dough. After some experimenting, it seems to help the pizza dough rise just right. Onto the ingredients.

Easy Pizza Recipe – The Pizza Dough

Ingredients

2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast

1/2 tsp brown sugar

1 1/2 cups warm water (not hot, not cold)

1/2 tsp salt

2 Tbsp olive oil

3 13/ cups all purpose flour

Get your oven pre-heated to 425 degrees.

1. Dissolve your yeast and brown sugar, activate with warm water and mix it up. Within 10 minutes, watch it foam (that’s good since it’s activated.

2. Add salt, oil and slowly fold in the flour.

3. Be sure to knead in the flour but careful not to over knead and transfer to a well oiled bowl. Cover with a cloth and let the dough rise. Give it time and watch it double (up to an hr).

4. On a well floured surface, get the dough and you can hand stretch or roll out with a rolling pin (but best to hand stretch). Use the palm of your hands to lightly press down.

5. Transfer to a pizza pan

7. Bake pizza for around 15-17 minutes and the remaining 2-3 minutes at 450-475 degrees (depending on your oven) for that crispy crust. Remember to keep an eye to prevent cheese burn!

Once you get the pizza dough and the pizza sauce made, your creativity when it comes to pizza toppings is limitless. Make veggie heaven pizzas or for those that don’t want cheese (GASP), you can substitute cheese for other toppings.
